UNT esports program announces $20,000 in scholarships
In April 2018, the University of North Texas became the first public university in the state to launch a collegiate esports program. UNT to offer free speech and hearing tests May 1
DENTON (UNT), Texas – The University of North Texas Speech and Hearing Center, located at 907 W. Sycamore St. in Denton, is offering free speech and hearing screenings as part of Better Hearing and Speech Month.
Hearing screenings will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 1. Additionally, speech and language screenings will be available from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Spring commencement marks 100 years of four-year bachelor’s degrees for UNT
DENTON (UNT), Texas —This spring will bring a special anniversary for the University of North Texas – 100 years of awarding four-year bachelor’s degrees.
In 1919, five students became the first to receive four-year bachelor’s degrees from what was then called North Texas State Normal College.
During spring commencement ceremonies May 9 – 11 (Thursday – Saturday), more than 4,800 students are expected to receive bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degrees from UNT.

Severe storms rip roofs off of UNT’s Rafes Observatory buildings
DENTON (UNT), Texas — The University of North Texas Rafes Urban Astronomy Center in Denton suffered serious damage from storms that moved through the area Wednesday night. As a result, all scheduled activities at the center have been canceled.
