University of North Texas fall commencement ceremonies slated for Dec. 13-14
DENTON (UNT), Texas — The first of nine University of North Texas fall commencement ceremonies begins at 8 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13 with the G. Brint Ryan College of Business undergraduate ceremony in the UNT Coliseum.
The university expects more than 3,500 students will walk to celebrate completion of bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degrees throughout the two days of ceremonies.
The ceremonies will be held on the UNT campus in the Coliseum, 600 Avenue D, and in the Murchison Performing Arts Center, 2100 N. I-35 East, in Denton.

UNT Police Department earns fifth consecutive accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies
DENTON (UNT), Texas — Once again, the University of North Texas Police Department is one of an elite few to earn advanced law enforcement accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).
Only 4% of law enforcement agencies nationwide have achieved the advanced distinction. The department first earned the accreditation in 2006, before following it with consecutive awards in 2009, 2012, 2015 (CALEA switched from a three-year to a four-year cycle at this time) and 2019.

It’s not just the food we eat - it’s the air we breathe
Amie Lund, a cardiovascular toxicology researcher with the University of North Texas, has found that exposure to certain air pollutants may cause weight gain, especially when coupled with a high-fat diet.
Lund is investigating how pollution from automobile exhaust affects the growth and signaling of fat cells called adipocytes. She determined car exhaust can trigger responses in the body that can lead to increased adipocyte growth and inflammation, which are associated with obesity and cardiovascular disease.
