UNT's Sky Theater planetarium upgrades technology and launches Saturday matinee
DENTON (UNT), Texas -- The Sky Theater planetarium at the University of North Texas has upgraded its presentation technology and is launching a Saturday matinee program geared mainly toward children.
The Sky Theater will offer a different matinee program each month beginning Sept. 7 (Saturday). The programs will begin each Saturday at noon, and tickets are $3 each (cash only).

UNT fraternity recognized nationally as chapter of the year
DENTON (UNT), Texas — Living by the motto “always prepared, always together (semper parati, semper juncti)” has paid off for UNT’s Alpha Nu Chapter of Phi Iota Alpha this year.
Although the UNT chapter is composed of only 13 active members, teamwork and preparedness helped them receive top recognition as Chapter of the Year at last month’s 2013 National Convention in Puerto Rico and Best Chapter in Texas at the 2013 Texas Phiota Formal awards ceremony in Austin last May.

Faculty experts available to comment on possible U.S. military action against Syria
This week, the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved a resolution to authorize U.S. missile strikes against Syria, in response to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad allegedly using chemical weapons against the nation’s own citizens in an attack on Aug. 21. The full Senate and also the House of Representatives are expected to debate a possible military strike beginning next week.

David Reynolds named associate VP of facilities for UNT
DENTON (UNT), Texas -- David Reynolds, recently retired deputy director of the U.S. Air Force Civil Engineer Center at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida, has been named associate vice president of facilities for the University of North Texas.
In announcing the appointment, Andrew Harris, UNT vice president for Finance and Administration, said, “Col. Reynolds has an outstanding 30-year record in facilities management with the Air Force. His leadership and expertise will be invaluable as the university continues to grow to meet the needs of the North Texas region.”
