UNT Ph.D. candidate Jessica Beckham has spent years researching Texas bumblebee populations and observing how urban green spaces and community gardens are preserving different species.
Susan Cheal, an associate professor of drawing and painting at UNT, spent two months this past spring in a residency program for artists in India, a country whose history of trade is still embedded in its culture. The trip inspired her, and she will show new works that draw from her time in India in "Fulfillment Center," an exhibition at UNT on the Square, running Aug. 31 (Monday) – Sept. 22 (Tuesday).

From Friday, Aug. 7 through Sunday, Aug. 9, Texas shoppers will not pay the 6.25 percent sales tax on most clothing, shoes, backpacks and other school supplies priced at $100 or less during the state's annual tax-free shopping weekend. Online retailers aren't required to participate in the sales tax holiday, the Texas comptroller's office has said that shoppers can expect online purchases that fit the criteria to be exempt from sales tax. UNTs faculty are available to discuss topics related to the tax-free shopping weekend.
On Thursday, Aug. 6, 10 of the many candidates for the Republican nomination for president will participate in a debate hosted by Fox News, after being chosen based on their average ranking in five national polls conducted before Aug. 4. Only the candidates currently leading by double digits in recent polls – real estate tycoon Donald Trump, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker -- are not in danger of losing their spots in the debate. UNT political scientists are available to provide previews and analysis of the debate and its participants
