For the second year in a row, the University of North Texas has been awarded the Other Victim Assistance Grant by the Texas Office of the Attorney General, which can be used to help students if they are victims of crime on- or off-campus. UNT has been awarded a $25,000 grant, which will be used during the 2016-2017 academic year.

Five University of North Texas journalism alumni who received Pulitzer Prizes and four who were finalists will discuss their recognized works and the expectations of Pulitzer winners and finalists on Sept. 29 (Thursday).

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, and the University of North Texas College of Music is commemorating the date with a special performance, A Concert of Reflection – 9/11. The event will be held at 4 p.m. Sept. 11 (Sunday) in Margot and Bill Winspear Performance Hall, located in the Murchison Performing Arts Center.

At the fourth University of North Texas Recovery Conference Sept. 21-22 (Wednesday-Thursday), Bill Maher, one of the founders of the Family Centered Approach to Intervention and Systemic After Care Coaching program, will discuss skills that family members can use to assist their loved one in starting a lifetime of recovery.

The research results show that students who voluntarily slept fewer hours over a week's time had higher serum glucose levels than other college students, putting them at risk for possible medical problems.
