UNT ArtSpace Dallas exhibition features the works of finalists from fall's 'Winner Takes All' event
What: CADD FUNd 2014 Finalists exhibition shows the works of UNT and SMU students who were finalists in the Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas emerging artists' Winner Takes All event last fall. Among those in the exhibition is winner Julie Libersat, a UNT graduate student who is developing the Roam smart phone app and used the money raised at the CADD event to support her project. Also representing UNT are graduate student Ellie Ivanova, and alumni Fari Rahimi and Lynné Bowman Cravens.

Men's satisfaction with their faces, investment in appearance linked to grooming product loyalty, UNT study says
DENTON (UNT), Texas -- Women have long been portrayed in popular culture as being more concerned about their appearance than men, but research from the University of North Texas indicates that men become committed to brands of grooming products based on how satisfied they are with specific parts of their bodies and how invested they are in their appearance. The research also shows that gay men are more likely than heterosexual men to be dissatisfied with various parts of their bodies.

UNT student receives scholarship to attend Meeting Professionals International conference
DENTON (UNT), Texas -- Allie Salgueiro of Garland, a senior hospitality and tourism management major at the University of North Texas, has received a Wyndham Worldwide WEC Scholarship that will allow her to attend the 2015 World Education Congress, the annual global conference of Meeting Professionals International. UNT student receives Spectrum Scholarship from American Library Association
DENTON (UNT), Texas -- Tommy Vinh Bui, a master's student in library science in the University of North Texas' College of Information, has been named a 2015 Spectrum Scholar by the American Library Association. Bui is earning his master's degree through the college's Greater Los Angeles Cohort.

DENTON (UNT), Texas — The University of North Texas Financial Services Program will be awarded a $50,000 grant from TD Ameritrade Institutional as part of its NextGen Financial Planning Initiative. On Aug. 10, 2014, one day after 18-year-old Michael Brown was fatally shot by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri, the hashtag #IfTheyGunnedMeDown began appearing on Twitter after an attorney in Jackson, Mississippi, posted it with two photos of himself -- one showing him positively and the other stereotyping him negatively. Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference awards $12,000 in cash prizes for writing competitions
DENTON (UNT), Texas -- George Bowden of Fort Worth received the top prize of $3,000 and a provisional book contract with the University of North Texas Press in the Book Manuscript competition sponsored by the 2015 Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference.

Finley Graves appointed to two-year term as UNT provost and vice president of academic affairs
DENTON (UNT), Texas – University of North Texas President Neal Smatresk appointed Finley Graves as the university's provost and vice president of academic affairs. This two-year appointment follows Graves' service as interim academic leader since March 1.
