During the 2013 holiday shopping season, more retailers followed a trend that began in 2012 – breaking tradition by opening for business before midnight on Thanksgiving Day instead of waiting until “Black Friday.”
This year, Wal-Mart, Kmart, Target, Macy’s and JCPenney are among those retailers that will open on Thanksgiving Day. DENTON, Texas (UNT) -- Three University of North Texas students are the winners of a nationwide virtual stock trading competition sponsored by TD Ameritrade Inc., a broker-dealer subsidiary of TD Ameritrade Holding Corporation (NYSE: AMTD). The GoMeanGreen team outperformed teams from 96 colleges and universities, growing its portfolio by 213.04 percent and a final portfolio value of $1,565,175.83 at the end of four weeks of trading.

UNT names new Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science dean
DENTON (UNT), Texas -- The University of North Texas has named Glênisson de Oliveira dean of the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science (TAMS). He will begin serving as TAMS dean in January 2015.
"Glênisson de Oliveira brings a wonderful combination of enthusiasm, creativity, energy and experience to the important position of TAMS dean," said UNT Provost Warren Burggren.
