Ta-Nehisi Coates to speak at UNT March 12
DENTON (UNT), Texas -- Author, editor and educator Ta-Nehisi Coates will speak March 12 (Thursday) as part of the University of North Texas Distinguished Lecture Series.

What: UNT Opera presents Les contes d'Hoffmann (The Tales of Hoffmann) which chronicles the eccentric complications that prevent the poet Hoffmann from finding a woman to love. Early music gems revived at UNT concerts
What/When: Two performances of early instrumental and vocal works from historically significant centers of musical activity will feature the UNT Baroque Orchestra and the Collegium Singers. Drawing from UNT’s collection of more than 250 period instruments, the programs will present historically informed performances of pieces composed centuries ago.

DENTON (UNT), Texas -- Knowing that her great-grandfather, Zachary Taylor Faulkner, lived in Sunflower County, Mississippi, University of North Texas student Sharie Vance wondered if she was related to the state's most famous Faulkner – the writer William Faulkner, who lived three counties away in Oxford. In January 2013, Vance, a graduate student in UNT's Department of Media Arts, traveled with her father to find out more information about her great-grandfather.

"NBC Nightly News" anchor Brian Williams temporarily stepped down from the newscast beginning Monday (Feb. 9) after admitting to falsely stating that he was on a helicopter in Iraq that was hit by a grenade.
