Grammy-winning vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth to serve as UNT's 2016-17 artist-in-residence
What: A free performance by Roomful of Teeth, the Grammy-winning vocal ensemble and artist-in-residence at the University of North Texas for 2016-17.

Google to host career workshops at UNT's Discovery Park

University of North Texas alumna and musician Norah Jones received a big welcome home Sept. 21 (Wednesday) when she returned to the university she attended before launching her Grammy Award-winning career.
As part of her visit, Jones received the Presidential Medal of Honor -- the highest medal given by the university and presented by UNT President Neal Smatresk. UNT doctoral students tackle the newest threats in cybersecurity
The University of North Texas is the only university in the country to receive National Science Foundation funding of more than $1 million for a Scholarship for Service program exclusive to Ph.D. students studying cybersecurity.

UNT student-run restaurant starts fall dining season Oct. 3
DENTON (UNT), Texas — The fall dining season starts Oct. 3 (Monday) for the University of North Texas' student-run restaurant, the Club at Gateway Center. The venue serves three-course gourmet luncheons to the community and opens twice a year for a limited time, giving students in the UNT Hospitality Management program hands-on experience running a successful business. Students oversee the entire dining experience, including meal preparation, marketing, budgeting, menu planning and staff management.

UNT researchers collaborate on cancer breakthrough
DENTON, Texas (UNT) -- A team of researchers working in two countries and several universities, including the University of North Texas, has made a major discovery that could help fight some deadly forms of cancer.
In 2013, the team announced that it had connected a single protein that contain an iron-sulfur center, to some of the most lethal types of breast cancers. Since then, that protein has been connected to at least four other types of cancer. Now the researchers say their lab results show they've found a way to suppress that protein and in turn stop tumor growth.

DENTON (UNT), Texas – Five renowned writers will give readings at the University of North Texas this fall as part of the UNT Creative Writing Program's Visiting Writers Series. The series brings nationally and internationally renowned writers to campus every semester to give book readings and signings and to hold question and answer sessions.
