UNT criminal justice faculty member to study terrorism issues this summer in academic fellowship
DENTON (UNT), Texas -- Dr. Daniel Stewart, assistant professor of criminal justice at the University of North Texas, will join teaching and research professionals for a 10-day course on terrorism studies at Tel Aviv University in Israel.
The program from June 16 to 25 is part of an academic fellowship from the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, a Washington, D.C.-based policy institute.

UNT to host symposium on open access to faculty members’ published research

UNT appoints new vice president for research
Dr. Thomas J. McCoy, vice president for research, creativity and technology transfer at Montana State University, has been named vice president for research and economic development at the University of North Texas. He will join UNT July 8.
As UNT's chief research officer, McCoy will set the university’s strategies for growing as a research university into a Tier One institution. UNT already is the most comprehensive research institution in the North Texas region and is committed to becoming a public research university on par with the best in the nation.

UNT chooses Barnes & Noble College for bookstore operations
The University of North Texas has signed an agreement with Barnes & Noble College as the new operator for the UNT Bookstore.
The contract was approved by the UNT System Board of Regents at the May 16-17 meeting. The agreement between UNT and Barnes & Noble College is for 12 years.
Barnes & Noble College is set to take over operations of the university bookstore on Aug. 8.

Three students named top Hispanic Communicators
DENTON (UNT), Texas — Hispanic Communicators DFW, DFW’s largest association of Hispanic/Latino journalists, has awarded three scholarships to University of North Texas students.
