UNT's Edible Books Festival lets you have your cake and eat the book, too. Entries being accepted now.

What: Entries are being accepted for the Edible Book Festival, an annual contest hosted by the University of North Texas Libraries that calls on entrants to turn their favorite books into culinary creations. The books will be judged by festival attendees who can later eat the tasty texts.

Gift certificates to the UNT Libraries' The Study, a coffee bar and lounge space, will be awarded in several categories, including the "Most Unusual Use of Food" and "Best Tasting."

In past years, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar," "Water for Elephants" and the "Harry Potter" series' Hogwarts's Castle have been among the piece of literature turned into delectable delights.

When/Where: 2 – 4 p.m. April 1 (Friday) in the Forum (Room 140) of Willis Library, located at 1506 W. Highland St.

Cost: It's free to register and attend.

Register: 940-565-2499 or at Mandy.Rausch@unt.edu. Participants are encouraged to register in advance; however, same-day entries will be accepted. Community members are welcome to register.
