UNT’s Mayborn Graduate Institute of Journalism awards $150K in scholarships

DENTON (UNT), Texas – The University of North Texas Frank W. Mayborn Graduate Institute of Journalism has awarded 16 graduate scholarships for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Each recipient of the highly competitive Mayborn Graduate Scholarship will be awarded up to $10,000 to pursue a master’s degree in journalism.

The institute, named for the late Texas newspaper publisher and civic leader Frank W. Mayborn, is a nationally accredited program that prepares students to practice, teach and conduct research in journalism and mass communication. Its students work in print and broadcast media, public relations agencies and various media communications organizations around the country.

This year’s Mayborn Graduate Scholarship recipients are:

  • Jasmine Johnson of DeSoto, Texas
  • Rachel Linch of Flower Mound, Texas
  • Megan Martinez of El Paso, Texas
  • Sarah Matthew of Fort Worth, Texas
  • Rebecca Najera of New London, Texas
  • Luisa Pinilla Lineros of Bogotá, Colombia
  • Maddison Poteet of Colbert, Oklahoma
  • Blanca Reyes of Dallas, Texas
  • Sean Riedel of Marion, Texas
  • Ruchi Ravi Shewade of Pune, Maharashtra, India
  • Marcus Sykes of Dallas, Texas
  • Brielle Thomas of Houston, Texas
  • Shardae White of Plano, Texas
  • Andrew Wright of Red Oak, Texas
  • Amira Wynn of McKinney, Texas
