Student Money Management Center offers students expertise and entertainment

DENTON (UNT), Texas -- The University of North Texas' Student Money Management Center is hosting a wealth of workshops focused on providing crucial information for a successful college career outside of the classroom.

Many of the events feature free food and prizes in addition to the expertise the center's staff offers. Below is a sampling of this semester's workshops.

SPF 16: Spring Break Protection: Visit the Student Money Management Center, Substance Abuse Resource Center and the Meadows Health and Wellness Center to find out how to enjoy Spring Break without getting burned financially.

  • March 9 (Wednesday)
  • 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
  • Sage Hall Lawn, 1167 Union Circle

Cooking on a Budget: Team up with the Student Money Management and Student Health and Wellness for this interactive workshop on eating nutritious and cheap food. Participants will be cooking and eating their creations. Participants will be entered into a $500 jackpot drawing.

  • Session 2: 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Cutting Car Costs: Join an expert mechanic for a lesson on preventative vehicle maintenance that will save you money and keep your car moving down the road. Participants will be entered into a $500 jackpot drawing.

  • Room 160 of Chestnut Hall, 1800 Chestnut St.

The Walking Debt: Avoid a debt-pocalypse by learning how to live on a budget that will lead to financial survival. Come out to test your money survival skills during this fun, interactive workshop.

UNT Housing Fair: Join the Student Money Management Center and the Off-Campus Student Office at this year's housing fair, where complexes and rental agencies from around Denton will have information on off-campus housing options.

Budget Bingo: Make Bank at Budget Bingo. Play budget themed bingo with the Student Money Management Center for a chance to win fun prizes and learn how to have a great time during your college career and maintain a budget.
