DENTON (UNT), Texas — The University of North Texas (UNT) and the Postsecondary Commission
(PSC) announced a partnership in which UNT will seek accreditation from PSC according to its standards, policies and procedures.
PSC is an accreditor seeking recognition by the U.S. Department of Education and is focused on higher education institutions that produce
strong economic outcomes for their students. UNT’s current and primary accreditation with the Southern Association of Colleges
and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) is not affected by its partnership with PSC.
“UNT is committed to helping every student who enrolls at UNT achieve success while
in school and well into their careers, which includes offering career pathways that
lead to future earnings that will allow them to live productive and purposeful lives,” said UNT President Harrison Keller, Ph.D. “We welcome the opportunity to work with PSC
on this shared commitment.”
“Most students today attend higher education because they want a better job and a
higher salary. PSC is dedicated to working with institutions that produce strong and
measurable economic outcomes for their students,” PSC Founder and President Stig Leschly
said. “We are thrilled to partner with UNT and President Keller, who has a long history
of using data to improve educational outcomes in Texas.”
PSC’s accreditation model emphasizes accountability for student outcomes, including economic returns an institution generates for its students.
“We recognize the important role that UNT plays in the Dallas-Fort Worth community and in the Texas higher education system,” said
Jen Dirmeyer, PSC vice president of accreditation. “Working with UNT and its leadership will strengthen PSC’s accreditation
model and bring much deserved visibility to the institution’s outcomes.”
