DENTON (UNT), Texas — Artificial Intelligence applications are expanding into nearly every area of industry including government services, transportation, healthcare, cybersecurity, autonomous systems, finance and more. Forbes includes artificial intelligence as one of the “Hottest Career Paths of 2020 and Beyond.”
In order to meet the increasing demand for AI professionals, the University of North Texas, a Tier One research university, is offering the only Master of Science degree in artificial intelligence in Texas and one of only a few programs nationwide. The new degree offers students the choice of three concentrations: machine learning, autonomous systems and biomedical engineering. Students will be able to take classes that allow them to explore specific interests in AI and leave the program with marketable skills.
These programs are simply the latest in UNT’s rich history of developing first-of-its-kind, groundbreaking degrees for Texas and the nation, UNT Provost Jennifer Cowley said.
“UNT is committed to launching the most innovative degree programs to keep our university and our students at the forefront of industry trends that are moving our world forward,” Cowley said. “All three of these programs were designed with the student’s career needs in mind and are prime examples of how UNT responds to the needs of business with creative solutions.”
UNT also is giving undergraduate students the ability to earn their degree in less time and graduate with relevant, hands-on experience through project-based learning with top industry partners.
UNT at Frisco’s project design and analysis program, which successfully launched in 2019, is now a fully available cohort degree program allowing students to learn, grow and graduate together as a team. Students earn a Bachelor of Science in just three years and benefit from strong relationships with their cohort and instructors. Collaborative engagement with industry professionals each semester gives students a work-ready competitive edge in today’s job markets. The bachelor’s degree is pending approval by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
Professionals looking to take that next step toward career advancement will soon be able to take advantage of a new online master’s degree offered by UNT and the Dallas Cowboys.
The 36-credit-hour professional online M.B.A. in sport entertainment management will offer six specialization courses: sports in the global marketplace, corporate partnerships, analytics, event operations, talent management and consultancy. These offerings will supplement the program’s more traditional classes, such as finance, accounting, marketing and strategic management, giving students the advantage of a traditional M.B.A. combined with best business operations practices from sports’ most valuable franchise.
In addition to advanced curriculum with real-world applications, students can join immersive, on-site boot camps at multiple locations, including The Star in Frisco, Dallas Cowboys’ World Corporate Headquarters and Training Facility and AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
