DENTON (UNT), Texas — Beth Tolan will join the University of North Texas as assistant vice president for Student Financial Aid and Scholarships on July 1, serving as a strategic partner in managing financial aid programs and advancing initiatives that help students achieve their educational goals by making college more affordable.

“I look forward to working with Beth and believe everyone else will too,” said Shannon Goodman, UNT’s vice president for enrollment. “She’s a collaborative leader and strong communicator who has deep experience in financial aid and scholarship operations at a large research university. She has an established record of supporting student success through high functioning aid programs.”

A primary goal for Tolan will be identifying and implementing operational changes post-pandemic to improve efficiencies and the overall customer experience for students.

Tolan said she is excited to be joining UNT.

“The University of North Texas is a creative, diverse and academically strong school,” she said. “I look forward to joining the team and am honored to serve in this role.”

Tolan comes to UNT with more than 25 years of experience in serving students in higher education, including 12 years of leadership in the financial aid office at the University of Texas at Dallas, where she has worked since 2003. She also previously worked at the Savannah College of Art and Design and Tufts University.

She is a member of both the National and Texas Associations of Financial Aid Administrators, as well as both the American and Texas Associations of College Registrars and Admission Officers.

Tolan earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts.
