DENTON (UNT), Texas -- Katie Wendling, a senior studying kinesiology in the University of North Texas College of Education, has been named a 2012 Undergraduate Scholar by the American Kinesiology Association.

The annual AKA Scholar Awards recognize undergraduate students on a national level for distinctive academic and leadership accomplishments. Wendling has held a 4.0 GPA throughout her four years at UNT, is a member and officer of UNT's Pre-Physical Therapy Club, and has played intercollegiate soccer.

"This award adds credentials to my resume," Wendling said. "UNT has a strong kinesiology program which has prepared me well."

After graduation in May, Wendling will begin working toward a doctoral degree in physical therapy. She hopes to work in pediatrics and eventually open her own physical therapy practice.
