UNT sculpture students help furry friends at Denton’s Linda McNatt Animal Care and Adoption Center with Sculptures for a Cause

What: University of North Texas Department of Studio Art students build and sell “Sculptures for a Cause” to benefit Denton’s Linda McNatt Animal Care and Adoption Center.

When: Noon April 6 (Saturday)

Where: Linda McNatt Animal Care and Adoption Center, 3717 N. Elm St. in Denton

Cost: Free

Background: Sculpture students in the UNT College of Visual Arts and Design are creating sculptures that provide both an interactive experience for pets and an aesthetically pleasing art form for people.

 

Students are building the sculptures as part of their class curriculum. Once the projects are critiqued by faculty, the students will bring their creations to the animal care and adoption center for a special reception and sale. The community is invited to attend the event, meet the artists and purchase the sculptures. All proceeds from the sale will be donated to Linda McNatt Animal Care and Adoption Center.

 

The students are also collecting pet supplies for the center prior to the event. Donations can be dropped off at the College of Visual Arts and Design, 8 a.m.- 9 p.m., room 158 C, 1201 W. Mulberry Street in Denton. Donations will also be accepted at the center during the event. Needed supplies include: Pedigree puppy and adult dog food, Purina cat and kitten food, Clorox wipes, bacon flavored treats, kitty litter, dog and cat toys, Dawn dish soap, washable pet bedding, HE laundry detergent and small fleece blankets.
