UNT students win gold, silver medals at Taekwon-Do World Championships
DENTON (UNT), Texas — Two University of North Texas students won gold and silver medals in this year’s Taekwon-Do World Championships in Germany.
Black belts Jamie Raybourn, a 19-year-old hospitality and digital retailing double major, and Lillian Randall, a 20-year-old linguistics major, just returned home in time to take their final exams after competing against some of the world’s top Taekwon-Do athletes.

City of Denton and UNT Partner to Conduct Full-Scale Disaster Exercise on Friday, May 3
Denton, TX (May 2, 2019) – The City of Denton and the University of North Texas (UNT) are collaborating to conduct a full-scale disaster exercise on Friday, May 3, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at UNT Apogee Stadium and Discovery Park. The exercise – named “Operation Thunderstruck” – will simulate a large-scale disaster to test the response capabilities and emergency operations of first responders, hospitals, and other agencies.

UNT to offer free speech and hearing tests May 1
DENTON (UNT), Texas – The University of North Texas Speech and Hearing Center, located at 907 W. Sycamore St. in Denton, is offering free speech and hearing screenings as part of Better Hearing and Speech Month.

Two UNT science students enter the annals of chemistry

Spring commencement marks 100 years of four-year bachelor’s degrees for UNT
DENTON (UNT), Texas —This spring will bring a special anniversary for the University of North Texas – 100 years of awarding four-year bachelor’s degrees.
In 1919, five students became the first to receive four-year bachelor’s degrees from what was then called North Texas State Normal College.
During spring commencement ceremonies May 9 – 11 (Thursday – Saturday), more than 4,800 students are expected to receive bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degrees from UNT.
