DENTON (UNT), Texas — University of North Texas students have the chance to demonstrate their understanding of ethics while competing for scholarships up to $5,000.

The Ricco Ethics Scholarship competition promotes intellectual debate and discussion on ethics related to students’ area of study at UNT. The goal is to encourage applicants to reach a higher level of ethical understanding and better comprehend the need for a higher understanding of ethics in their personal and professional lives.

The scholarship competition debuted in 2011, when longtime friends of the university Nicholas D. and Anna G. Ricco provided a generous gift that was placed in an endowment.

The award is open to full-time undergraduate and graduate students in good academic standing.

“UNT is always looking for ways to support our remarkable and high-achieving students. We pride ourselves on nurturing ethical leaders and giving students a globally minded education while promoting diversity and respect for others. Thanks to the generosity of the late Nicholas D. and Anna G. Ricco, we can do this while we promote intellectual debate and discussion on ethics and ethical behavior,” said Michael A. McPherson, vice provost for student success.
