DENTON (UNT), Texas – The College of Visual Arts and Design's graphic design program at the University of North Texas has been ranked #1 in the Southwest by Animation Career Review.

UNT's graphic design program also ranked 5th among public universities and 22nd during a national review of graphic design programs by Animation Career Review.

"This acknowledgement is a testament to the creativity of our students and the dedication of the faculty who teach them - they should all be very proud," said Greg Watts, dean of UNT's College of Visual Arts and Design.

Schools were ranked based on a five-point criteria of academic reputation, the program's course offerings and faculty's background, tuition costs, geographical location, and the university's admission rates. Each school considered in the rankings completed a survey regarding the specifics of their program.

Animation Career Review is an independent online source for people seeking careers in the animation and gaming industries.

UNT's College of Visual Arts & Design is home to the Design Department, which offers several programs for aspiring graphic designers. Options include a BFA in Communication Design (Graphic Design) and MA and MFA degrees in Design.

Housed in the UNT Art Building, the Communication Design programs offer access to studio classrooms and design labs as well as resources such as 1,000-plus reference books and magazines and paper/print samples of photography, illustration, typography, graphic design and advertising.
