Today (Thursday, July 17), a Malaysia Airlines passenger plane was shot down by a surface-to-air missile in Ukraine near the Russian border, according to Ukrainian officials. All 295 passengers and crew on the aircraft are believed dead, and the incident touched off immediate finger-pointing between Russian separatists and the Ukrainian government.

A University of North Texas faculty member is available to discuss this unfolding story:

John Ishiyama, professor in UNT's Department of Political Science, has been a research fellow at the University of Kansas' Center for Russian and East European Studies since 2002 and focuses on comparative politics, including politics in post-communist nations, for his research. He will discuss Ukraine's national identity and relationship to Russia.
