DENTON (UNT), Texas — Award-winning and nationally recognized artists in the University of North Texas College of Visual Arts and Design will exhibit their work in the upcoming Faculty and Staff Exhibition.
Reflecting the wide range of talent in the college, pieces will include paintings, sculptures, drawings, jewelry design, fashion design and new media works, among others. More than 40 faculty and staff members will submit pieces to the exhibition.
For the first time, the exhibition will be featured at two venues: UNT Art Gallery and UNT on the Square.
“Partnering with UNT on the Square provides additional exhibition space we need to showcase the breadth of work by our faculty and staff,” said Tracee Robertson, director of UNT Galleries. “It also allows us to share CVAD’s talent and diversity with the Denton and surrounding communities, and we hope visitors will be encouraged to see the exhibit at the UNT Art Gallery as well.”
The exhibition will run Nov. 19 to Dec. 14 at the UNT Art Gallery in the UNT Art Building, one block west of Mulberry and Welch streets, and Dec. 5 to Jan. 9 at UNT on the Square in downtown Denton. Both locations will host receptions Dec. 5.
Robertson said the annual exhibit is a favorite of students in CVAD, one of the most comprehensive university art programs in the nation.
“Our students have been in classes with these professors, receiving guidance and feedback,” Robertson said. “For them to see what their professors are working on in their own studios is exciting and informative.”
Both galleries are free and open to the public. UNT Art Gallery is open noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Friday and Saturday and 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. UNT on the Square is open 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with extended hours until 8 p.m. on Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
