DENTON (UNT), Texas — The University of North Texas has selected three students as recipients of the 2022 Ricco Ethics Scholarship.

This competition promotes intellectual debate on ethics related to a student’s field of study and stimulates applicants to new heights of reasoning and self-discipline.

The scholarship began in 2011 when a generous gift from Nicholas D. and Anna G. Ricco, longtime friends of UNT, created an endowment.

2022 award funds will be applied to fall semester balances. First place awards were given in the undergraduate and graduate categories, and a second-place award was given in the undergraduate category. The scholarship is open to full-time undergraduate and graduate students in good academic standing.

2022 Ricco Ethics Scholarship winners are:

First place undergraduate ($5,000) – “Cybersecurity on a College Campus Case Study” by Davis Anderton, a junior in media arts in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences

Second place undergraduate ($4,000) –  “Ethics in Protests” by Abbie Cunningham, a sophomore in psychology in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences

First place graduate ($5,000) – “A Look at Goodman College's Cybersecurity Issues through Logic Conflict, Servant Leadership Model and Cyber Curriculum” by Kendra Schaffer, graduate student studying international sustainable tourism
