DENTON (UNT), Texas – Up to 100 alumni of UNT’s Green Brigade Marching band are expected to be back on the university’s campus for a reunion event that will include a half-time performance.

The Green Brigade Marching Band Reunion is scheduled for Nov. 18-19 (Friday and Saturday) and will feature alumni and the current Green Brigade during the UNT vs. Southern Mississippi football game on Nov. 19 (Saturday). The game will be held at Apogee Stadium (1251 S Bonnie Brae St.) in Denton starting at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are available at www.meangreensports.com and start at $12.

“These reunions are a great way to reconnect with UNT/NTSU alums from several decades and generations,” said Nick Williams, director of the Green Brigade. “It’s important for me to let the current students see the history and the connection to the university that the ‛old guys’ have.”

The group previously had a reunion in 2007. Planning for this year’s reunion has been under way for several months with the planning committee including alumni from as far back as the 1960s. Mario Casanova, class of 1987, served on the committee and is looking forward to the event.

“I felt honored that Dr. Williams asked me to be on the committee. My time at North Texas was very memorable and special,” Casanova, UNT alum and Director of Bands at Trinity High School in Euless, said. “I still talk to many of my colleagues and friends from UNT. We are all over the world, but we still keep in touch, so it will be a lot of fun to reconnect in person.”

The Green Brigade is UNT’s largest spirit organization with more than 300 members. The marching band is open to all majors, but is an integral component of the music education curriculum.

The cost for alumni to participate in the reunion is $40, which includes a Friday evening reception, entrance to the UNT Alumni Pavilion and admission to the UNT vs. Southern Mississippi football game at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at Apogee Stadium.
