DENTON (UNT), Texas – Children will receive thespian training during an interactive story time program as part of the UNT Art Gallery Saturday Series.

Matt Ludlam, owner of Ludlam Dramatics, will direct children as they act out the children's classic, Town Musicians of Bremen, before creating and acting out their own story. The free event takes place from 1 to 3 p.m. March 12 (Saturday) at the UNT Art Gallery, located at 1201 W. Mulberry St. in Denton.

Ludlam will show children how to master their storytelling, emotional expression, creative movement and public speaking abilities. Theatre helps a child develop their interaction skills and learn to compromise to get what they need, he points out.

"I want them to take away that acting and the arts is fun, as they experience something new," Ludlam said.

He and his wife taught in the Lewisville Independent School District for several years before launching Ludlam Dramatics.

The interactive story time is the third segment of the 2015-16 Saturday Series by the UNT Art Galleries. Artists from a variety of genres throughout Dallas-Fort Worth are hand-picked to participate in the Saturday Series. The Saturday Series is funded by a grant from the State of Texas Commission on the Arts. Members of UNT's National Art Education Association, who are studying to become art teachers, will assist children with their projects.
