Rainn Wilson to speak, hold book signing at UNT Sept. 19

DENTON (UNT), Texas -- Rainn Wilson, best known for playing “Dwight Schrute” on NBC’s “The Office” will speak Sept. 19 (Thursday) as part of the University of North Texas Distinguished Lecture Series.

Wilson will speak at 7 p.m. in the UNT Coliseum, located at 600 Avenue D, at the southeast corner of North Texas Boulevard and Highland Street. The event includes remarks from Wilson as well as a Q&A session, and a book signing at 8 p.m.

Wilson will discuss SoulPancake, a book and social project developed to encourage discussions on spirituality, creativity, arts and philosophy. Wilson’s book was published in 2010 and quickly became a The New York Times best seller.

Event tickets will be available Aug. 28 (Wednesday). Tickets can be purchased online or in person at the UNT Union Information Desk, or by calling 940-565-3805. Students receive one free ticket with Student I.D. and can purchase up to four guest tickets for $15 each. Faculty, staff and alumni tickets are $20 for stadium seats and $25 for floor seats, and general public tickets are $25 for stadium seats and $30 for floor seats. Groups of 10+ can receive stadium seating tickets at a discounted rate of $20 each.

Student leaders participate in private Q&A sessions with Distinguished Lecture Series guests each year. The program introduces the UNT community to the excellence of world-class speakers whose messages enhance student learning outside the classroom. Previous speakers include President George W. Bush, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., John Legend, Bill Nye, Mythbusters Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, Condoleezza Rice, Suze Orman and Vicente Fox.
