Political scientists available to discuss Clinton, Rubio declaring candidacy for president

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is expected to formally announce her long-awaited candidacy for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination Sunday, (April 12) via social media and video. She will then campaign in the key primary states of Iowa and New Hampshire. On Monday (April 13), Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida is expected to formally announce his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination, joining already-declared candidates Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky.

The following University of North Texas political scientists are available for media interviews about Clinton, Rubio and other declared and possible presidential candidates.

Matthew Eshbaugh-Soha, associate professor in the UNT Department of Political Science, researches American political institutions and public policy. Valerie Martinez-Ebers is a professor of political science and co-editor of the American Political Science Review. Her areas of expertise include race, ethnicity and Latino politics, including immigration policy analysis and program evaluation; the impact of migration into the heartland of the United State; the rise of Latino voters and the role of Hispanic legislators.
