Omni Hotels & Resorts executives to speak at UNT for lecture series

DENTON (UNT), Texas -- Two executives from Dallas-based Omni Hotels & Resorts, which was recently named the Luxury Hotel Brand of the Year in the 2014 Harris Poll EquiTrend® study conducted by Harris Interactive, will visit the University of North Texas Nov. 5 (Wednesday) for the Executive in Residence Lecture Series presented by UNT's Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management in the College of Merchandising, Hospitality and Tourism.

Joy Rothschild, Omni's chief human resources officer, and Jon Hunter, the company's vice president of operations and hotel services, will speak beginning at 10 a.m. in the ballroom of UNT's Gateway Center, 801 North Texas Blvd. They will network with UNT students from 11:30 a.m.-noon after their presentation.

The annual Harris Poll EquiTrend® study, conducted online this past January, measures consumers' ratings on familiarity, quality and purchase consideration of more than 1,500 brands in 170 categories. Omni also received the top ranking the Luxury Hotel Brand category in 2011.

Rothschild has worked for Omni for more than 20 years, starting in the Management Development Program. She became chief human resources officer in 2013.

She is a Golden Bell award recipient from Hotel Sales & Marketing Association International and received the President's Award from Omni for developing the company's Service Champion employee recognition program and the Power of One employee empowerment program. Rothschild serves of the Hospitality Board of Governors for the UNT College of Merchandising, Hospitality and Tourism.

Hunter began working for Omni Hotels & Resorts in 2004 and served in administrative roles at Omni Royal Orleans Hotel in New Orleans, Omni Hotel at CNN Center in Atlanta, Omni Jacksonville Hotel in Florida and Omni Charlotte Hotel in North Carolina. He joined Omni's corporate team as vice president of operations and hotel services in August 2013.
