DENTON (UNT), Texas — The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of North Texas will begin its virtual Spring 2021 semester on Feb. 1. OLLI is a lifelong learning program that offers virtual non-credit courses and events designed by and for adults 50 and better.

OLLI traditionally offers face-to-face courses, but with the onset of the pandemic last year, OLLI at UNT adapted its program to a virtual format. This spring, learners can enjoy more than 70 livestreamed non-credit courses, special interest groups and other activities through the Zoom video conferencing platform.

OLLI at UNT’s courses will cover topics ranging from history and the arts to wellness and finance. They are taught by university faculty and other passionate subject matter experts.

Included for all members are exclusive learning opportunities, such as:

  • Virtual talks by Mamta Chaudhry, author of Haunting Paris, and Irv Lubliner, who recently edited and published his mother’s memoir, Only Hope: A Survivor’s Stories of the Holocaust
  • Behind-the-scenes stories from award-winning documentarian Peter Sanders
  • Mediterranean-themed cooking demonstrations from Chef Jodi Duryea, a principal lecturer in UNT’s College of Merchandising, Hospitality and Tourism
  • Healthcare-themed lectures presented by faculty from UT Southwestern Medical Center
  • Virtual tour of the evening sky and Q&A session with the UNT Department of Astronomy

Spring semester memberships are available to the general public for $50 per person. When one person joins at full price, they become eligible to invite one friend or family member to join at half price.

Discounted memberships are also available to veterans of the U.S. Armed Services and their spouses/partners, as well as members of the UNT Retiree Association, UNT Alumni Association, Flower Mound Seniors In Motion and The Grove at Frisco Commons.
