DENTON (UNT), Texas — As unemployment numbers continue to rise, there is good news for University of North Texas students and the North Texas region. A Frisco-based technology company, MTX Group, is recruiting hundreds of UNT students and alumni to support the company’s COVID-19 response programs.

MTX Group specializes in messaging applications and artificial intelligence to help government agencies respond to emergencies. The company is working with global health departments to identify at-risk individuals for COVID-19 and prevent the disease from spreading.

“We are collaborating with UNT to hire and train students who will be able to work virtually from their home computers,” said Das Nobel, CEO of MTX Group. “Our goal is to hire thousands of new employees in Texas.”

No high-tech skills are needed. MTX Group is looking for UNT students and alumni who have basic computer skills and who can deliver great customer service. The company will train new employees to remotely help identify people who have been exposed to COVID-19, monitor them for symptoms and provide instructions on testing, quarantine or isolation.

“This is important work for Texas, and one of the first places MTX Group has come to recruit employees is UNT,” UNT President Neal Smatresk said. “This is an incredible opportunity for our innovative students and alumni to gain experience and contribute to curbing the spread of COVID-19.”

UNT currently offers access to all MTX Group initiatives via internship or full-time employment programs across all campuses. The collaborative placement program gives students real-world opportunities in technological innovation and creativity.

“We are very excited to tap into the talented students at UNT while promoting high paying jobs for the university and community,” Nobel said. “We also are looking forward to the possibility of future collaborations with a Tier One research university and its extensive educational opportunities in artificial intelligence.”
