DENTON (UNT), Texas -- The University of North Texas will sign an agreement with the Consulate General of Mexico in Dallas on Thursday to implement an education informational center in the Mexican Consular offices.

The signing is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at the Consulate General of Mexico in Dallas, 1210 River Bend, Dallas, Texas 75247.

The "Ventanilla de Oportunidades Educativas" program (Educational Opportunities Station Program, (VOE), will provide information on educational opportunities to the Mexican community in the Dallas/Fort Worth region, strengthening UNT's community engagements in Dallas/Fort Worth.

More than 500 people and their families visit the Mexican Consulate in Dallas every day, including Mexican nationals with visas, permanent residents, U.S.-Mexican citizens, and U.S. citizens, among others.

Offices in the "Ventanillas" program have previously been established in Los Angeles and Chicago. Another outreach of the consulates is the "Ventanillas de Salud" program which addresses health care issues.

"As it has done since its creation as a school for teachers, UNT continues to contribute to the education of the residents of North Texas. UNT is proud to work with the Consulate of Mexico, business community and education institutions and organizations in North Texas to disseminate knowledge and education opportunities to the Mexican community," said Dr. Gabriel Carranza, Assistant Vice Provost for International Affairs at UNT.
