Background:

Mark Yudof, emeritus chancellor of the University of Texas System and emeritus law professor specializing in the First Amendment, will be the featured speaker for the event. The treatment of hate speech, heckler’s veto and shadow boycott of Israel and pro-Israel speakers will be among the First Amendment topics Yudof will cover. The event is presented bythe UNT Distinguished Lecture Series and UNT Jewish and Israel Studies program.

Olympic medal-winning gymnast Aly Raisman will continue the series Nov. 19. Other upcoming speakers include Tamika Mallory (Feb. 27), national co-chair of the Women’s March, and Don Lemon (March 21), a CNN news anchor. 

From business leaders to celebrities, each year the Distinguished Lecture Series invites noted speakers to campus who bring varying perspectives and topics of thought to the community.
