DENTON (UNT), Texas — DENTON (UNT), Texas — UNT International at the University of North Texas will host many activities and lectures this semester focused on learning about and enjoying other cultures. The events are free, will take place on the UNT campus in Denton and are open to media and the public, unless otherwise noted.

 

Global EncoUNTers: Ethiopia: Learn about Africa’s second most populous country, Ethiopia, with UNT International.

·      When: 3:30 – 5 p.m. Oct. 12 (Friday)

·      Where: Marquis Hall, 1511 Mulberry St. in Denton

 

Study Abroad EXPO: Join UNT International to learn about study abroad opportunities around the world. UNT exchange programs, UNT faculty-led program leaders, and representatives from our affiliate programs will be available to share opportunities and answer questions.

·      When: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Oct. 17 (Wednesday)

·      Where: Marquis Hall (room 130), 1511 Mulberry St. Denton in Denton

 

Peace Corps Alumni Stories: UNT International will host a panel discussion on Peace Corps volunteer experiences featuring Peace Corps alumni from across North Texas.

·      When: 6 – 7:30 p.m. Oct. 17 (Wednesday)

·      Where: Marquis Hall (room 130), 1511 Mulberry St. in Denton

 

World Brew Mexico: Enjoy an international mixer and social hour with Mexican hot chocolate, Mexican culture and conversation.

·      When: 3 – 4 p.m. Oct 24 (Wednesday)

·      Where: Marquis Hall (room 130), 1511 Mulberry St. in Denton

 

NationaliTEA Morocco: Enjoy an international mixer and social hour with tea and activities from Morocco.

·      When: 3 – 4 p.m. Nov. 7 (Wednesday)

·      Where: Marquis Hall, 1511 Mulberry St. in Denton

 

Global EncoUNTers Nigeria: Experience the beauty of the country of Nigeria with presentations and authentic foods prepared by UNT students.

·      When: 3:30 – 5 p.m. Nov. 9 (Friday)

·      Where: Marquis Hall, 1511 Mulberry St. in Denton

 

Diplomacy Drop In Hours: Drop in for an individual consultation and guidance from Julie Kavanagh, the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomat in Residence for Texas.

·      When: 4 – 5:30 p.m. Nov. 13 (Tuesday)

·      Where: The Starbucks located inside the University Union, 1155 Union Circle Dr. in Denton

 

Foreign Service & Diplomacy Careers: Join UNT international for a talk with Julie Kavanagh, U.S. Department of State Diplomat in Residence for Texas.

·      When: 6 – 7:30 p.m. Nov. 13 (Tuesday)

·      Where: Marquis Hall (room 130), 1511 Mulberry St. in Denton

 

World Brew Italy: Enjoy an international mixer and social hour with coffee and activities from Italy.

·      When: 4 – 5 p.m. Nov. 14 (Wednesday)

·      Where: Marquis Hall, 1511 Mulberry St. in Denton

 

World Fair featuring World Echoes Cultural Night: UNT World Echoes and UNT International are teaming up for a full day of culture and international experiences. During the day, there will be an expo, and students will host tables featuring music, food and history topics from around the world. In the evening portion, students will perform a dance, music or poetry at the UNT Lyceum.

·      When: The Expo event will be held from 4 – 6 p.m., and the Night of Performances event will be held from 7 – 9 p.m. Nov. 16 (Friday)

·      Where: The Expo will be in Marquis Hall (room 130), 1511 Mulberry St. in Denton, and the Night of Performances will be in the Lyceum located inside the University Union, 1155 Union Circle in Denton
