DENTON (UNT), Texas – U.S. News and World Report ranked the counseling program in University of North Texas’ College of Education as 13th in the nation in the student counseling and personnel services category in its recently released 2014 Best Graduate School rankings.

The program was the top-ranked in Texas.

“This ranking reflects the high regard nationally in which our program, our faculty and our students and our staff are held,” said Dr. Janice Holden, chair of the Department of Counseling and Higher Education at UNT.

The program prepares master’s students to become counselors in schools and clinical mental health settings and doctoral students to become advanced practitioners and counselor educators. In addition, faculty members are active in conducting research on best practices in counseling and counselor education.

Also this year, the College of Education was ranked 13th in the nation for Best Online Graduate Education Programs, including its master’s degree in educational psychology with a concentration in gifted and talented education and a new accelerated online master’s degree in educational leadership.
