Tyshawn Sorey’s work has won him a MacArthur Fellowship and praise from The New York Times.
The multi-instrumentalist and composer will be accompanied by Sasha Berliner on vibes, Morgan Guerin on saxophone and electronic wind instrument (EWI), Lex Korten on piano and Nick Dunston on bass.
Known for both his composition and improvisation skills, Sorey has released seven albums, the most recent being Pillars. His main instrument is the drums, but he also plays the piano and trombone. He is an assistant professor of music at Wesleyan University.
The concert is part of the Mary Jo and V. Lane Rawlins Fine Arts Series at the University of North Texas.
