UNT to host Comic Studies Conference
What: The 2014 Comics Studies Conference at the University of North Texas, featuring keynote speaker Kate Leth, creator of the webcomic "Kate Or Die!"
When: 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. March 1 (Saturday). Leth will give her keynote address at 4 p.m. The conference will be followed by a documentary film screening at 5 p.m. and a closing reception and merchandise signing at 7 p.m.

What: The UNT Symphony Orchestra performs in concert with the fall 2013 College of Music Concerto Competition winners and student conductors.

Two UNT College of Music students receive Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer awards
DENTON, Texas (UNT) – A senior and a doctoral student studying jazz at UNT's College of Music were among only 27 composers nationwide who recently received Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer awards.

Women journalists covering Mexican drug cartel murders faced death threats, psychological impact
DENTON (UNT), Texas -- The 2007-2011 drug cartel wars in Mexico's border city of Ciudad Juarez were covered mostly by veteran female reporters, who often arrived at murder scenes before law enforcement officials. And many of these women needed emotional support from each other as a result, says a University of North Texas faculty member who spent several months researching media coverage of the crimes.
