Dr. Harrell coauthored with Dr. Linda Hodges the Texas 8th Grade Module, a curriculum based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. In addition to directing many Teacher Quality Grants, she is currently co-director of almost $500,000 in grant funding from the National Science Foundation for the UNT Robert Noyce Scholarship Program for Mathematics and Science Teachers. Dr. Harrell has published in various international, national, and state journals including: the Journal of Computers in Mathematics and Science Teaching, Action in Teacher Education, Community College Journal of Research and Practice, and The American Biology Teacher. She has conducted many presentations for local, state, national, and international organizations. She's a member of National Association of Biology Teachers, Science Teacher's Association of Texas, Association for the Education of Teachers in Science. She is the program administrator for the Secondary Online Teacher Certification Program, which was one of the first three programs in the U.S. that provided teacher certification using a 100% online delivery system.
