Authored numerous articles and several books, including Case Studies in Therapeutic Recreation: Helping Older Adults Develop Active Leisure Lifestyles, Activities with Developmentally Disabled Elderly and Older Adults, and Dynamic Leisure Programming with Older Adults. Board member of the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification and the chair of the National Therapeutic Recreation Society Research Committee. Secured over a million dollars in external funding to support training for persons to work in the recreation profession with individuals who have disabilities or are aged. Holds bachelor's and master's degrees in leisure services and studies from Florida State University and a doctorate in recreation and leisure studies from the University of Georgia.
