UNT responds to this week’s events in Boston and West, Texas
DENTON (UNT), Texas — The University of North Texas will open its Goolsby Chapel from 4-5 p.m. today (April 18) for reflection and prayer for the victims of the bombings in Boston and the fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas. The chapel is at 1622 Maple St. in Denton.
The UNT chapter of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity is collecting items for residents of West who have been left homeless from yesterday evening’s fertilizer plant explosion.

UNT Scrabble® tourney benefits kids’ reading program
DENTON (UNT), Texas – Word wizards will gather at the University of North Texas April 18 (Thursday) to test their vocabulary prowess — while raising money for a children’s reading program.
A UNT Scrabble® tournament — open to the public — will benefit Success for Life through Reading, a nonprofit organization at UNT that promotes early childhood literacy in north Texas. UNT student named Collegiate Marketer of Year by DFW American Marketing Association
University of North Texas College of Business student Thomas Pemberton, a junior studying marketing, has been named DFW American Marketing Association Collegiate Marketer of the Year.
Winners were announced at an April 11 gala in Dallas.
Pemberton, who plans to graduate from UNT in December, is the former president of the UNT AMA chapter.
