UNT transportation event to underscore logistics' role in North Texas economy

What: Annual Transportation Breakfast and Byron Nelson Open House – hosted by the University of North Texas Center for Logistics Education and Research. The event will feature talks from executives at some of the biggest names in logistics – including BNSF Railway, Hillwood and American Airlines – as well as key issues facing the industry.

Following the program, attendees are invited to an open house at the home of logistics entrepreneur and longtime UNT logistics supporter William "Bill" LaMothe, chairman of the board for PGL. The event at his home provides an afternoon of networking and access to the annual AT&T Byron Nelson Championship golf tournament, which takes place May 19 – 22 (Thursday – Sunday) in Irving.

When: 7:30 to 11 a.m. May 20 (Friday).

Where: Big Brothers Big Sisters, located at 450 E. John Carpenter Freeway in Irving.

DENTON (UNT), Texas — Demand is high for commercial real estate in the Dallas-Fort Worth area – the third most sought after market in the U.S. – thanks, in part, to Texas' business-friendly climate and the area's strong logistics capabilities. Kimberly-Clark Corp is bringing a $22 million distribution facility to Dallas; Amazon is building a fourth fulfillment center in Fort Worth, adding 1,000 jobs in the process; and Mercedes-Benz is planning a new distribution warehouse on 31 acres in Grapevine.

The business boom is leading to the relocation of major operations and distribution centers to the North Texas region will be among the topics at the Annual Transportation Breakfast and Byron Nelson Open House, hosted by the University of North Texas Center for Logistics Education and Research.
