DENTON (UNT), Texas -- Terri Day has been named the Special Assistant to the Provost at the University of North Texas. She began her new job last month.

The Special Assistant to the Provost acts as a liaison between UNT's colleges and school and academic departments and the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Day will oversee university policy development for the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs; and implement communication strategies for keeping faculty and staff apprised of and involved in academic planning processes and progress, and celebrating academic accomplishments and progress on key academic initiatives.

"Terri Day has the knowledge and understanding to help operate UNT's academic plan and to take this university's vision for the future to the next level," said Finley Graves, provost and vice president for academic affairs at UNT.

Day comes to UNT from Southern Utah University, where she was the assistant to the president for Planning, Information and Effectiveness. From 2012-2014, Day was the executive director of Institutional Research and Planning for the Tarrant County College District. She was also the associate director of Institutional Research, Planning and Effectiveness at the University of Texas at Arlington and coordinator of student success for the Office of Enrollment Management and Student Life at Jefferson Community College in Watertown, New York.

"I'm excited about the opportunities that a new tier one institution presents. I look forward to serving UNT," said Day.

She received her bachelor's degree in sociology from the State University of New York Institute of Technology at Utica, master's degree in counseling and personnel services at the University of Maryland at College Park and doctoral degree in educational leadership at the University of Dayton in Ohio.
