UNT international student teacher exchange program marks second year

DENTON (UNT), Texas -- An international student teacher exchange with the University of North Texas College of Education and University of Seville in Spain continues this year with five students from the University of Seville teaching in Denton Independent School District schools through March 8. The program for aspiring teachers is now in its second year.

"The program provides our university students with experience teaching in schools and learning about education in other countries, while it gives our school children an opportunity to learn from teachers who live and teach in schools in another country," said Lisbeth Dixon-Krauss, associate dean of the UNT College of Education.

University of Seville students in the program arrived Feb. 7 in Denton. They are:

  • Lucia Dubikova-- Student teacher of 2nd grade at Lee Elementary School
  • Pablo Galan Lopez -- Student teacher of physical education at Denton High School
  • Ana Guerrero Sanmartin-- Student teacher of kindergarten at Lee Elementary School
  • Encarnacion Rodriguez Esquivel -- Student teacher of kindergarten at Ginnings Elementary School
  • Lucia Moruno Salvador -- Student teacher of fourth grade at Ginnings Elementary School

College of Education officials said they hope to develop more international student teacher exchanges with universities in other countries.

As part of the exchange, five UNT students will teach in Seville from March 22 to May 3.
