UNT faculty recognized for exceptional teaching, research

DENTON (UNT), Texas -- Seven University of North Texas faculty members have been recognized as 2013 Distinguished Teaching Professors and Distinguished Research Professors.

“These awards recognize tenured faculty members who have achieved truly exceptional records of research productivity and outstanding teaching in their disciplines,” said UNT Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Warren Burggren. “These faculty members contribute greatly to UNT’s progress in becoming a national research university with excellent student learning.”

Faculty members recognized as 2013 Distinguished Teaching Professors are:

  • Dr. Neal Brand, College of Arts and Sciences – Mathematics
  • Dr. Elizabeth Hayes Turner, College of Arts and Sciences – History
  • Dr. Alexander Pettit, College of Arts and Sciences – English

 Faculty members recognized as 2013 Distinguished Research Professors are:

  • Dr. Narendra Dahotre, College of Engineering – Materials Science and Engineering
  • Dr. Francis D’Souza, College of Arts and Sciences – Chemistry
  • Dr. John Peters, College of Arts and Sciences – English
  • Dr. Yong Tao, College of Engineering – Mechanical and Energy Engineering
