UNT economist available for interviews on August jobs report
DENTON (UNT), Texas -- The U.S. Department of Labor's August 2012 jobs report shows slowing job growth and a falling unemployment rate. The economy added 96,000 jobs in August, which is down from 141,000 jobs added in July, and the unemployment rate fell to 8.1 percent in August, down from 8.3 percent in July.

UNT has signed an agreement with Barnes & Noble College as the new operator for the UNT Bookstore. Barnes & Noble College is set to take over operations of the university bookstore on Aug. 8.
Robert M. Citino, professor of history at UNT, has been selected to serve as a Visiting Professor at the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Penn., during the 2013-14 academic year. Ellie Meyer, A Radio, Television & Film senior, took first place in the UNT Fine Arts Series 12th annual Songwriter’s Competition. She received an invitation to the legendary Kerrville Folk Festival that hosts more than 100 songwriters over 18 days in May and June.
