DENTON (UNT), Texas -- Elementary-aged children from the greater Denton area are invited to explore and play musical instruments at the fifth annual Instrument Petting Zoo hosted by UNT’s College of Music.

The free event lasts from 10 a.m. to noon on Oct. 13 (Saturday) in the Recital Hall, located within the Music Building at UNT. The Music Building is located at the corner of Avenue C and Chestnut Street.

“This is a fun exploratory event,” said Don Taylor, event coordinator and associate professor of music education. “Children will be able to try out every orchestral instrument, including woodwinds, brass, strings and percussion.”

The event will begin with a concert by top graduate performance majors. Then, with the help of UNT music education students, children will be invited to explore instruments.

Pender’s Music Co., which has locations in Denton, Carrollton and Oklahoma City, is a sponsor of the event.
