UNT College of Music Halloween Spooktacular to bring holiday treats

What: Halloween Spooktacular, an evening of costumes, music and dance performed by the UNT Concert Orchestra and LakeCities Ballet Theater.

When: 8 p.m. Oct. 31 (Monday).

Where: Margot and Bill Winspear Performance Hall in the Murchison Performing Arts Center, 2100 Interstate 35E, Denton. The event also will be streamed live at https://recording.music.unt.edu/.

Cost: $10 for adults; $8 for seniors, non-UNT students, children (12 and under), UNT faculty, staff and retirees, and groups of 10 or more; and are free for UNT students with valid ID. UNT students may pick up their ticket in person at the Murchison Box Office.

Parking: Free parking will be available in the lot next to the MPAC, with overflow parking available in lots 4 and 26. View the UNT parking map here.

DENTON (UNT), Texas -- The University of North Texas College of Music is combining old and new haunts to present more treats than tricks at this year’s Halloween Spooktacular.

“All ages will find this concert thrilling,” said Clay Couturiaux, UNT Concert Orchestra director and professor. “If you like Halloween, you will enjoy this concert.”

The performance at 8 p.m. Oct. 31 will feature everything from orchestral favorites to well-known themes from Ghostbusters, Psycho, Young Frankenstein and other Halloween movie favorites. The UNT Concert Orchestra, dressed in costume, also will be accompanied by the LakeCities Ballet Theater for a special performance of Le Ballet de Dracula.

“I’m pleased to offer something special like this to the public,” Couturiaux said. “Children will have time to collect candy before celebrating the night with this treat, while UNT students can begin their evening festivities with our performance.”

Attendees are invited to dress in costume for the night of surprises, which will be held in the Margot and Bill Winspear Performance Hall in the Murchison Performing Arts Center, 2100 Interstate 35E, Denton. Tickets cost $10 for adults; $8 for seniors, non-UNT students, children (12 and under), UNT faculty, staff and retirees, and groups of 10 or more; and are free for UNT students with valid ID.
