DENTON (UNT), Texas--University of North Texas online graduate degree programs in business and education have been ranked among the nation’s best by U.S. News and World Report in its 2013 Best Online Education Program rankings released this week.

The College of Education was ranked 13th in the nation for Best Online Graduate Education Programs, including its master’s degree in educational psychology with a concentration in gifted and talented education and a new accelerated online master’s degree in educational leadership.

The online degree with an emphasis in gifted and talented education, which has been offered since 1998, has attracted students from across the world, while the educational leadership program is a new degree in which students can take eight-week courses on a flexible schedule.

“UNT has roots as a teachers’ training college and has long been respected for its reputation in preparing teachers and educational leaders,” said Jerry Thomas, dean of the UNT College of Education. “This recognition from U.S. News and World Report is a testament to the quality of education we provide, and we are delighted to serve our students effectively whether in online courses or in face-to-face teaching.”

UNT’s master of business administration degree program was ranked 20th in the nation for Best Online Graduate Business Programs.

“Our online graduate programs offer the same outstanding curriculum and faculty that we provide to on-campus students,” said Marilyn Wiley, senior associate dean and professor in the UNT College of Business. “We are pleased to earn national recognition for this degree that has played such an important role in the career success of our graduates.”

UNT offers online M.B.A. programs with concentrations in marketing, strategic management and finance. The degrees are provided in flexible formats to meet the needs of working professionals, and the UNT M.B.A. is fully accredited by AACSB-International, the world’s premiere accrediting agency for colleges of business.

According to U.S. News and World Report, rankings are based on factors such as student engagement, faculty credentials and training, support services offered to students and admissions selectivity.
