There's 'much ado' at UNT with Shakespearean plays set for Oct. 28 and Nov. 1

What: Actors from the London Stage, an educational and theatrical program, presents Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. The comedic play will be performed by the group, which will be in a week-long residency at the University of North Texas' Department of English.

DENTON (UNT), Texas – One of the world's oldest established touring Shakespearean theater companies comes to the University of North Texas for a residency with the Department of English and two performances of the great bard's Much Ado About Nothing.

Actors from the London Stage will work with students from Oct. 28 to Nov. 1, helping them examine Shakespearean scenes and performing and leading students in analyzing and speaking verse. As part of the residency, the group will also hold two public performances of Much Ado About Nothing at 8 p.m. on both Oct. 28 (Tuesday) and Nov. 1 (Saturday).

The group, which was co-founded by British actor Patrick Stewart of X-Men and Star Trek fame, includes actors who hail from such prestigious companies such as the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal National Theatre of Great Britain and Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.

Each of the actors takes on two or three of the major roles in the production as well as several minor roles. The play itself is a no-frills production with basic set and costuming.

Tickets are $10 for the general public, $5 for UNT faculty, staff and Alumni Association members, free for UNT students. Students can print their free ticket, while UNT faculty, staff, alumni and the general public, may purchase their tickets at Untuniontickets.com
