DENTON (UNT), Texas - Multiple fatalities have been reported in an active shooter incident in San Bernardino, California, according to news media and communications from the city’s police and fire departments. The details are still coming in, but with prominent news coverage of mass shootings, it can be increasingly difficult from parents to shield their children from news about the violence.

Educational Psychologist Wendy Middlemiss at the University of North Texas can discuss how parents can talk to children about the shooting and the deaths, including how to address things seen on television and topics talked about during school.

Reach Middlemiss on her cell phone at 724-977-3067.
